Harry Kane’s Bundesliga record has already been matched but Bayern Munich star is close to securing goal bonus

Harry Kane may have taken over the Bundesliga, but he’s got competition in front of goal.

The England captain has flown out of the blocks since his £100million move from Tottenham, registering a staggering 21 goals and seven assists in just 16 games for Bayern Munich.

His predecessor in the centre forward berth, Robert Lewandowski, had earlier said Kane would need time to settle in Germany, but so far he’s unstoppable.

Rather surprisingly, though, he’s not the only one.

Kane stole the headlines on November 4 with a hat-trick in Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, making it 15 goals in just ten Bundesliga games.

The speed in which he reached 15 goals was a new record that had stood for 60 years, however, Kane’s had the honour taken straight off of him.

Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy managed his 15th of the season against Dortmund last time out, in just his ninth game this season.

The Guinean striker, who was a summer target for Fulham, has similarly been faultless in front of the goal, inspiring a Stuttgart side who were in the relegation playoff last season.

Just two behind Kane’s Bundesliga total of 17, both strikers look set to obliterate last season’s top scorers, Niclas Fulkrug and Christopher Nkunku, who each managed 16.

The question for both, though, is how far can they go?

The current record for most goals in a Bundesliga season is 41, set by Lewandowski for Bayern in 2020/21, breaking Gerd Muller’s 1971/72 tally of 40.

At his current rate, Kane is on course to register an eye-watering 51, and he already has club legend Lothar Matthaus’ backing.

Simon Jordan says he isn't that impressed by Harry Kane's start at Bayern Munich

“I would already make a prediction,” the Sky pundit said. “Unless he has a major injury, he will definitely break Robert Lewandowski’s record.”

One thing that also looks near-certain, is Kane securing his £217,000 goal involvement bonus.

According to BILD, Kane negotiated an extra payment on top of his £20.8m per-season salary, which is activated if he manages 40 or more goals and assists.

Already on 28, it looks like a formality the 30-year-old will be celebrating an extra pay cheque with two thirds of the season left to play.
