Harry Kane scores twice to break Bundesliga record as England striker leads Bayern Munich to victory

Harry Kane has broken another Bundesliga goalscoring record, and is on course to shatter even more, after netting yet again for Bayern Munich.

The England captain plundered a first-half double in a 4-2 victory over Heidenheim to make it 21 goals in all competitions since sealing his move to Germany.

Only 13 minutes were on the clock when Kane collected a cross from Leroy Sane, controlled the ball with his back to goal and performed a stunning turn and strike to find the top corner.

The former Tottenham star then made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time with a towering header from Sane's sweeping corner.

Bayern were in the driving seat, but threatened to crumble as Heidenheim - who have just three wins this season - fired back after the break with two goals in three minutes from Tim Kleindienst and Jan-Niklas Beste.

But Bayern quickly regained their composure Raphael Guerreiro put the giants back in front just two minutes later, and a late strike from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting wrapped up all three points to go top of the table.

It also maintains Kane's incredible scoring form since his arrival in Bavaria, with the striker now up to 17 Bundesliga goals from just 11 games.

That's a record in the German top flight, with Kane becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to reach that rally in his first 11 games of the season.

Incredibly, he's now also scored more than last season's Golden Boot winners, Christopher Nkunku of RB Leipzig [now at Chelsea] and Werder Bremen's Niclas Fullkrug [now at Borussia Dortmund], who got 16 goals apiece across the entire 2022/23 campaign.

Kane has left Bayern fans stunned since his £82million transfer, with the frontman already breaking a goal record set by Robert Lewandowski after his lightning start.

He will surely now be eyeing Lewandowski's overall Bundesliga record of 41 goals scored in a single season - which the Pole achieved in the 2020/21 campaign.

In his current form, you wouldn't be surprised if he was approaching that tally before the winter break, with five games to go until Bayern's last game before Christmas on December 20.

And it wasn't just Kane who's on fire, the entire Bayern Munich team is.

The 4-2 win saw the defending champions take their goal tally to 42 this season - the most ever by a team after their first 11 games of a Bundesliga campaign.
