Harry Kane is smashing Bundesliga records, eyeing Robert Lewandowski’s legendary tally, and set to beat Liverpool legend

Harry Kane is showing exactly why he's one of the world's best strikers with a record-breaking start to life with Bayern Munich.

The striker only arrived in Bavaria over the summer but has enjoyed a glorious few months with a staggering 21 goals already scored in all competitions.

Those efforts have come in just 16 appearances for Bayern, giving him a strike rate of 1.31 goals per game in all competitions.

In the Bundesliga, Kane's strike rate is even more impressive after scoring 17 times in 11 matches, giving him an average goals per game record of 1.55.

The England striker is now 30 years of age and so the chances of him catching Gerd Muller in the Bundesliga's all-time top scorer's list is minimal, but had he moved to Germany earlier, the record may already have been wrapped up.

Muller, a German football legend, scored 365 in 427 German top flight matches, giving him a 0.85 goals per game compared to Kane's 1.55 goals per game.

With Kane scoring 1.55 per game at Bayern, his tally could have been enormous based on the amount of games that he played for Tottenham in his career.

The England striker is still 47 goals behind Alan Shearer's tally of 260 as the Premier League's top goalscorer, but given that he's now loving life in Germany, it remains to be seen if he'll have the time and opportunity to surpass the Newcastle legend.

But Kane's impressive start to life in Germany is about much more than what he could have achieved.

Kane is the first player to reach 17 Bundesliga goals in just 11 league fixtures.

That tally of 17 would also have seen the 30-year-old crowned the Bundesliga's top goalscorer last term, beating Christopher Nkunku of RB Leipzig [now at Chelsea] and Werder Bremen's Niclas Fullkrug [now at Borussia Dortmund], who got 16 goals apiece across the entire 2022/23 campaign.

Simon Jordan believes Harry Kane is doing precisely what he 'expects' him to be doing in the German Bundesliga at Bayern Munich

He will surely now be eyeing Robert Lewandowski's overall Bundesliga record of 41 goals scored in a single season - which the Pole achieved in the 2020/21 campaign.

A tally of 17 Bundesliga goals also makes Kane the highest goalscorer in Europe's top five leagues this term, beating Serhou Guirassy, Erling Haaland, Lautaro Martinez and Jude Bellingham in the rankings.

He's also second in the list of top goalscorers in the calendar year of 2023 with 47, one behind Haaland and leading Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe who are closely behind.

Kane has bagged three hat-tricks already this season, the latest being a real fans' favourite as it came in Der Klassiker against German rivals Borussia Dortmund.

It's safe to say that Kane's start to life in Germany could not have gone better and who knows, the striker may have plenty more records in his sights if he can maintain this stupendous strike rate.

Speaking on talkSPORT, German journalist Constantin Eckner said: "The expectations [around his signing] were high, of course.

"People were viewing him as one of the best strikers in the world so now that he’s scoring all of these goals, in a way he’s meeting expectations.

“But of course it’s still tremendous for Bayern fans to see someone filling the shoes of Robert Lewandowski because he spent eight years at the club and scored all of these goals and now Harry Kane is there and in some ways is doing a better job than Lewandowski did.

“I remember Arjen Robben joined Bayern but he needed more time before he could really make a splash in the Bundesliga, but Harry Kane it was from day one basically.

“There were some concerns about him not having so many touches and being so connected to the rest of the team, but if you watch Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Lewandowski – these top tier strikers – you don’t need to touch the ball 30 or 40 times in a game, your main job is to score goals.

“If he scores at this rate then he might up with 60, or 50 in the Bundesliga. He would break all the records!

“You never know with injuries, dips in form or he gets tired from playing all of these games and captain the England national team but at that rate he’ll break all the records, in Germany and internationally."
