Frank Warren has hit back at Adam Catterall after his 11-minute monologue about Tyson Fury went viral.

Last week, Catterall highlighted contradictory statements ‘The Gypsy King’ has made during negotiations for fights with Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

The talkSPORT host also suggested Fury is only motivated by money and claimed that this is the reason why he has finally signed to fight Usyk in Saudi Arabia on December 23.

A clip of Catterall’s speech was viewed by millions of people on social media.

Since then, Fury’s fight with Usyk has seemingly been pushed back after the WBC heavyweight champion had a more challenging night than expected against Francis Ngannou this past weekend.

The ex-UFC star dropped Fury and was considered by many unlucky to have walked away from his boxing debut on the wrong end of a controversial split decision.

On Monday morning, the Hall of Fame boxing promoter appeared on talkSPORT Breakfast where he accused Catterall of dismissing Fury vs Ngannou as a ‘mismatch’ only for it to end up being a hotly contested affair.

“What I’m annoyed about. I was listening to Adam Catterall, I like Adam by the way, we done a podcast together,” Warren said.

“But listening to that, that’s not what he said before the fight. He was saying, ‘It’s a mismatch. It’s rubbish, this fight shouldn’t be allowed.’ That was the sort of words he was using.

“The point I’m making is everyone is entitled to an opinion but it’s not an informed opinion… It was always going to be competitive.

“Tyson was a big favourite, he was entitled to be a big favourite. But give [Ngannou] some credit, he’s now been ranked in the [WBC] top ten on the strength of that performance.”

Fury is currently sporting a massive black eye but has played down Ngannou’s performance and robbery claims by suggesting the Cameroonian KO artist only won two rounds during their fight.

The 35-year-old is adamant a clash with Usyk will be next, despite the fact many fans are clamouring for a rematch between two of the biggest stars in combat sports.

‘Predator’ was supposed to return to MMA in 2024 after recently inking a deal to become the face of the Professional Fighters League [PFL] heavyweight division.

Ngannou will now be fielding big offers to remain in boxing for his next fight.
