Man City head into the game off the back of a thrilling 4-4 draw against Chelsea before the international break while the Reds beat Brentford 3-0.

Klopp's side have only lost one game all season, however, it is always a tough task to come up against Guardiola the match after his side have dropped points.

Manchester City vs Liverpool: Reds’ 12:30pm nightmare

Liverpool are more than used to playing in Saturday’s early kick-off following an international break.

This game is set to be the Reds’ thirteenth 12:30/45pm start since Klopp joined the club.

Their total is seven more than Chelsea and Tottenham who have the joint-second most.

Last season, Liverpool struggled heavily in these matches, failing to win any of the six clashes in the early slot.

They did win their last 12:30pm game though, coming from behind to beat Wolves 3-1 earlier this campaign.

In the previous meeting between Klopp and Guardiola in an early kick-off, it was Man City who came out on top, convincingly winning 4-1 at the Etihad.

Manchester City vs Liverpool: Team news

Man City are sweating over the fitness of Erling Haaland after their superstar picked up an ankle injury on international duty.

He was ruled out of Norway’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland with the knock and is now a doubt for this weekend’s huge clash.

John Stones is expected to still be out while Kevin De Bruyne continues his recovery.

Ederson and Nathan Ake are set to be assessed ahead of the game but Sergio Gomez is ruled out with a long-term issue.

As for Liverpool, Ryan Gravenberch should be back in action after missing the win over Brentford last time out.

Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate are also expected to make a return.

However, Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic remain out and Andy Robertson continues his recovery after surgery on his shoulder.

Manchester City vs Liverpool: What has been said?

Liverpool boss Klopp has voiced his distaste for playing in the early kick-off following the international break.

He said: "No one can say at the moment, but how can you put a game like this on a Saturday at 12.30pm?

“Honestly, people making decisions, they cannot feel football, it's just not possible.

"And if that's the moment where the world pays the most to see a football game then nobody has to tell us.

“I don't know if that's the case, I really don't."
