In 2018, Canelo signed one of the biggest contracts in sports history as he agreed to a five-year deal with Golden Boy and DAZN that would see him make a total of £365m.
However, after only making a reported £50m from his first two fights, he decided to exit the contract and file a lawsuit against his promoter and broadcaster.
He has had many huge paydays, reportedly making almost £70m from his first two fights against rival Gennady Golovkin.
He was also claimed to have made at least £40m for his most recent bout against Jermell Charlo in September.
But Canelo’s earnings don’t all come from boxing.
He has a lucrative partnership with drinks company Hennessy while also owning his own taco restaurant at home in Mexico.
The champion also works with sports equipment brand Everlast as an ambassador and he has his own promotional company for boxing matches and many other events.
It doesn’t stop there, as Canelo has a personal clothing line and is part of the team behind sports drink maker Yaoca and a fitness app called I Can.
According to Forbes, he makes around £20m a year from real estate investments too.
